2021 Municipal Election
Drayton Valley’s General Municipal Election will be October 18, 2021 at the MacKenzie Conference Center from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Each resident of legal age will be have the opportunity to vote for Mayor as well as six councillors.

Nomination opens January 1, 2021. Nomination packages are available at the Drayton Valley Civic Centre, or can be downloaded from:

Updated Local Authorities Election Act
The Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA) governs municipal and school division elections in Alberta. It sets out rules and regulations for candidates, donors, electors, and election administrators that must be followed before, during and after an election. The LAEA was updated on September 1, 2020 and includes amendments related to:
- Nomination period
- Contributions to campaigns
- Advertising
All candidates are encouraged to develop a working understanding of the Local Authorities Election Act. It is recommended that candidates seek legal advice, where possible, regarding their obligations.
