Drayton Valley Brazeau County Fire Services will be hosting a series of FireSmart™️ Public Engagement Workshops during the month of March to prepare the community and residents for the upcoming wildfire season.
Join us at one of our upcoming workshops to learn more about FireSmart™️ techniques that residents can use to help protect their property from wildfire, how to prepare for an evacuation, how to build an emergency kit, and other important information to help you and your family prepare for an emergency.
Workshops have been scheduled at local community halls throughout the month of March to allow residents to attend the workshop at the location, date, or time that works best with their schedule. Food and refreshments will be provided at each workshop. For more information, please contact Deputy Fire Chief of Inspections, Investigations & Safety, Kamil Lasek, at fire.tso@draytonvalley.ca.

On March 6, 2024, Town Council approved to amend Land Use Bylaw 2020/12/D with Text Amendment Bylaw 2023-09-D.
Text Amendment Bylaw 2023-09-D proposes to allow for a Multi-Unit Residential component in the Commercial General District on Plan 5935HW Block 11, Lot 2 (5027 Industrial Road).

The proposed Responsible Pet Owner Bylaw 2023-03-P received First Reading on March 6, 2024. We are seeking public feedback prior to the proposed Bylaw receiving 2nd & 3rd Readings.
Some of the most notable changes are:
✔️ the ability for residential properties to keep up to 3 hens within the Town of Drayton Valley and regulations surrounding hen keeping
✔️ Provide more clear language on what a person or animal can or can't do
✔️ Increase the limits from 2 dogs to 3 dogs
✔️ Removal of requirement of yearly, municipal licencing (town tags) and move towards having proper identification (legible tattoo, microchip or your own tag)
✔️ Clear guidelines for nuisance dogs and cats
✔️ Increase of fine amounts to have a higher deterrence
✔️ Requiring people to notify the Town if their dog has been deemed dangerous in another municipality, or by the Province
