Free Tipping Days provides an opportunity for each residential household in Drayton Valley to access the landfill for FREE to dispose of items too large for regular curbside collection.
- Program is for residential households in Drayton Valley
- Proof of residency is required (driver’s licence, tax bill, utility bill)
- Residents can drop off one truckload of household waste, up to 500 kg at no charge
You will be only permitted be permitted to access the Aspen Waste Management Facility ONCE with a limit of 500 kg at NO CHARGE, during Free Tipping Days.

Bring your load of household waste (up to 5oo KG) to Aspen Waste Management Facility on October 11, 12, 18, 0r 19, 2024 any time between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Provide proof of residency (driver’s license, tax bill, utility bill).
Your household information will be recorded.
You will be permitted to cross the scale ONCE at no charge, and within the specified weight, during Free Tipping Days.

This program is not deferrable to another time.
Accepted Waste
Waste accepted by the Aspen Waste Management Facility includes waste disposed of at the landfill, diverted to the Material Recovery Facility or alternative disposal, and stockpiled. Waste disposed of at the landfill include the following:
- Residential Sanitary Refuse
- Construction and Demolition Debris
- Asbestos
- Animal Carcasses (excluding specific risk materials
Waste directed to waste segregation, the Material Recovery Facility or alternative disposal include the following:
- Vehicle Tires – no rims
- White Goods
- General Metals
- Vehicle Batteries
- Agricultural Chemical Containers including herbicide, pesticide, and fungicide containers
- Vehicle Bodies
- Petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil (that meet applicable criteria)
- Empty Propane Tanks (40 lb maximum)
- Used lube oil and filters
- Household recycling including paper, glass, and plastics
- Cardboard
- Propane Tanks
- Household Hazardous Waste including solvents, drain cleaners, pesticides and herbicides
- Paint and Aerosols
Clean fill and topsoil will be directed to stockpile areas designated by the landfill operator.
Residential Yard Waste Drop-Off
Yard waste can be dropped off at the Aspen Waste Management Facility(AWMF) during regular business hours. This is a free service for residential yard waste that includes: grass clippings, leaves, and small branches. Yard waste must be removed from plastic bags prior to placing in the bin. This service is available yearly from early spring until late fall.

Yes, as a renter you can participate with proof of residency
No, this program is for households only.
The equivalent of one pickup truck load equal to but not exceeding 500kg (approx. 1100 lbs) of waste
You will be charged for any amount over 500 kg.
The fee for residential Homeowner/Rental Property is: $82.50 per tonne ($5.65 minimum)
Anyone from your household can participate, however, each household is permitted ONE use with a limit of 500 kg per household (one truck load)
Proof of residency is required.
No, this is for Town of Drayton Valley households only.
The fee for items that contain CFC’s is $66.00. Typically, these appliances are fridges, freezers, air conditioners etc.
You can make arrangements for a third party to drop off your items, however they must have your proof of residency with them and notify the attendant that items are being dropped off on your behalf.
