Town South Entrance
The south entrance sign into Drayton Valley serves as an important landmark to visitors, shows pride in our community and depicts our industrial history. In an effort to build on our community pride and make our community attractive to visitors, new comers and business owners, the Town will be giving our landmark some much needed TLC!
A fresh coat of paint and sprucing up the landscaping at the south entrance will showcase Drayton Valley as a vibrant and welcoming community. As we look to the future, our image will be confident and professional, fresh and progressive. This restoration will showcase the energy and ambitions of the Town as we seek opportunities that make Drayton Valley a rewarding place to do business and call home.
On Tuesday, July 10, 2018 the derricks will be removed from their location at the south entrance of Town and transported to a local facility. This is to give them a good cleaning and a new coat of paint! The derricks will be painted blue as part of the Town’s new brand standards. A portion of the Ring Road will be closed while crews work to bring the derricks down.
Planning and conceptual design of the entrance sign including the three derricks, pond and landscaping began in 1991 and was officially opened on September 10, 1994. The project was made possible by grant funding from the Province of Alberta, contributions from the Town of Drayton Valley and a generous donation from Mr. Emile Lambert.
