Street Sweeping
Every spring, over 82 km of streets are cleared of gravel, sand and debris that have accumulated over the winter; this keeps the town clean and safe for pedestrians, motorists and cyclists. Street sweeping also reduces water pollution by preventing the run-off of sanding materials and debris from entering our water system.
Major arterial and collector roads are swept first, followed by residential sweeping. This work will be completed as weather permits.
The Town relies on the cooperation of vehicle owners to ensure the effective clearing of our roads:
- Watch for signs in your area indicating when your road is scheduled for sweeping.
- Remove vehicles from the road so that the road can be swept.
Always give our equipment plenty of space – in front, behind and on both sides.
