2024 Award Categories & Recipients
ARTS & MUSIC
The Arts and Music Award celebrates the extraordinary talent and creativity of local artists and musicians who have made significant contributions to Drayton Valley. This award recognizes those who have experienced achievements in the industry, have a positive impact, embrace innovation, and use their talents to teach and inspire others in our community.
The arts and music are vital to the cultural fabric of our town, and tonight, we honor those who enrich our lives with their creativity and passion
Tammy Flett
Twenty-three years ago, Tammy attended a choral workshop in Drayton Valley those present were encouraged to form a Community Choir. Tammy Flett continued the discussion and a year later Valley Voices Community Choir was formed with Tammy as the Director.
Tammy is dedicated and committed to the choir and encourages members to strive to do their best. Many members do not read music and have never sung in a choir, but Tammy puts everyone at ease with her great communication skills and musicianship. She has an ability to inspire and motivate choir members each week. Under her expertise, Valley Voices has performed at Community Events and Senior Centres.
Tammy has also led the choir to perform at our local Performing Arts Festival winning awards and Provincial recommendations allowing the choir to perform in Edmonton.
Terry Flemming:
Terry moved to Drayton Valley in the spring of 1977, he formed the band Hickree. For the next 4 years this group played for many events- weddings, and steak nights for the local Legion and Elks clubs. During this time the group approached the local Beehive and offered their services to create an annual Beehive ball to raise money for the facility. This event ran for 3 years before becoming just an annual auction to raise funds. As the members of this group went in different directions Terry was joined by 3 other friends and started Rivers Edge. The group continued to supply music for the Beehive Christmas parties, Kids for Cancer annual bonspiels (for 10 years), local telethons and several agriculture events. With members of Rivers Edge and a few other musicians an additional group called Herding Katz was formed. This group strictly entertains for senior’s residences, hospitals, extended care and assisted living facilities within a 100 km radius of Drayton Valley. It is because of Terry’s many musical friends that he has been able continue to do that which he loves which is playing and sharing music with such a variety of people.
BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENT
Ladies and gentlemen, the Business Achievement Award recognizes a local business or corporation that has set a remarkable standard in our community. This award honors a business that has not only experienced substantial growth but also excels in customer service, demonstrates innovation in its core business model, or incorporates environmentally responsible practices.
The businesses we celebrate tonight are not just contributors to our economy—they are trailblazers, setting examples for others to follow. They remind us of the power of innovation, dedication, and responsibility in driving our community forward. Shavonne Wickens with Harv’s Candy Emporium:
Harv’s Cand Emporium, opened in December 2022, was the vision of Shavonne and her partner, Craig, who relocated to Drayton Valley, seeking a small-town feel. The store is named in honor of Harvey Volf, a beloved family friend, and aims to create a nostalgic experience for all ages. From participating in local events to supporting community initiatives like safe grads and 4H, Harv’s Cand Emporium has quickly become a cherished part of the community. Shavonne and Craig are grateful for the support they’ve received and look forward to expanding their business and continuing to serve Drayton Valley.
Heather Yakimchuk:
Second Take Boutique opened its doors June 1st, 2022. They are a local Clothing Consignment and Outlet store. Their vision is to provide the community with high quality merchandise at a reasonable price while also promoting Reuse, Recycle, Reduce.
Second Take Boutique also believes in giving back to our community. They have run fundraisers for local families. In appreciation of our customers they also do a weekly $25 store credit draw as well as other campaigns that give back to our community.
Camp Coffee Co:
Camp Coffee has been an amazing community addition, serving only the best coffee, quality eats, and exceptional customer service! Locally owned and operated, Nadine cares about her community, connection, and success of Drayton Valley! You will always see a smiling face & receive a warm welcome at the window of this newly established business!
Ryan Fynn:
Ryan Fynn is a dedicated community leader, serving as President of the Drayton Valley Hospitality & Tourism Authority, Vice Chair of the Drayton Valley Community Foundation, and a board member of the Eagle Point Blue Rapids Park Council. His leadership has significantly impacted local initiatives, including the This is Drayton Valley campaign. In late 2023, Ryan was honored with the General Manager of the Year award from Ramada by Wyndham Worldwide, highlighting his exceptional leadership and commitment. His efforts have made the Ramada a model of excellence and a pillar of community development.
Carol Lapointe:
Carol Laponite has been a trusted and reliable source of professional guidance in Drayton Valley for over 30 years. Known for her commitment to doing things right the first time, Carol has built strong relationships as an employer, commercial building owner, and landlord. Recently, she has partnered with a new law firm to continue offering the high-quality services she’s known for. Above all, Carol is most proud of her family, including her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who are her greatest joy.
Mighty Learners:
Drayton Valley Mighty Learners have quickly become a valued addition to our community, providing much-needed services for families and children. Their program has made a significant impact and they have been praised for the exceptional care and education their children receive. The dedication and passion of the team at Mighty Learners have earned them a well-deserved nomination in the Business Achievement category.
Nikki Smithinski:
Nikki at Indigo Petz is known for going above and beyond for her customers, showing incredible compassion and knowledge in pet care. For over 12 years, she has provided unwavering support, even during the most difficult moments, as shared by the nominator. Whether through grooming or boarding, Nikki treats every pet like her own, making her a trusted and cherished part of the community.
COMMUNITY SPIRIT
The Community Spirit Award celebrates the heart and soul of Drayton Valley. This award is given to an individual, organization, or not-for-profit group that makes a significant and ongoing voluntary contribution to our community. The recipients of this award display outstanding commitment to community enrichment, humanitarian service, and the well-being of others.
Their selfless, courageous, and compassionate acts have improved the lives of those in need and have left a lasting impact on our town. Tonight, we recognize their remarkable efforts and thank them for their unwavering dedication to making Drayton Valley a better place for all.”
Bill Cavanaugh:
Bill has been extensively involved in the community since1997. He was a cadet liaison officer for 15 years, the Legion President from 2014-2024, actively involved with the museum, Master of Ceremonies for Remembrance Day for 20 years, organized community dinner for 3 years, along with assisting Warming Hearts with meals for the less fortunate. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to the community, Bill!
Ryan Fynn:
Ryan Fynn embodies the true meaning of community spirit. He volunteers countless hours, serving on multiple boards and working tirelessly to make Drayton Valley shine. His humility and dedication often go unnoticed, but his contributions are invaluable to our town’s success and vibrancy. Ryan’s unwavering commitment to improving Drayton Valley through his leadership and service makes him more than deserving of this recognition.
Sam Ichtay:
Sam is a remarkable individual with a heart of gold who continually serves our community with generosity and kindness. From organizing fundraisers to providing meals for those in need, his selflessness knows no bounds. He’s especially dedicated to supporting children through events like the backpack giveaway, ensuring every child feels cared for. Sam’s unwavering love for Drayton Valley and his commitment to helping others make him truly deserving of this recognition.
Amanda Jeffery:
Amanda Jeffery is a lifelong resident of Drayton Valley, and her contributions as a talented wordsmith and passionate community volunteer have made a lasting impact. As a content writer, independent author, and freelance newspaper reporter, Amanda has captured the essence of our town’s stories with care and creativity. Her dedication extends to her volunteer work at the Drayton Valley Municipal Library, where she currently serves as President of Friends of the Library. Amanda’s love for reading and writing has enriched the community, whether through her published works or her efforts to organize magic performances for local students and support the library’s initiatives.
BEST Youth Hub:
The Youth Hub is an integrated services hub working in partnership with their lead agency the Drayton Valley Primary Care Network and provincial funder Kickstand to provide services and healthy programs to youth ages 11-25 and their families within the town of Drayton Valley and Brazeau County. Their mission is to provide and navigate services to young people and their caregivers with a focus on prevention and the six core areas of mental health, substance use, primary care, peer support, social services and indigenous programming. The youth hub supports approximately 150-180 visits each month, with new youth coming through the doors each week
Dylan Fulks:
Dylan is a member of the Lions club, he is the president of Santa’s Anonymous, the chair for the midway each year, and he is the volunteer treasurer of Aurora PAC. Outside of the Lions Club, Dylan has volunteered to bartend for various events including the annual gala for the the Breton Ag society and drive home services for Cause for Critters.
When he isn’t supporting his own kids he is supporting the kids of Drayton Valley through Santa’s Anonymous, Aurora Elementary, or Miss Joanne’s.
Kathy Metzger:
Kathy has been apart of Drayton Valley for 25 years, making books, flyers, and signs for the community. She is a core foundation in the many businesses in town. She provides donations daily to those who enrich our community.
Lori Noble:
Lori is a true community champion, dedicating her time and energy each year to organize the much-loved haunted house event in Drayton Valley. This incredible attraction not only brings joy and excitement to residents and visitors alike, but it also supports three local charities, with all donations going to causes close to home. Despite the high costs of decorations and setup, Lori continually comes up with fresh and creative ideas, making it a can’t-miss event for many. A heartfelt thank you goes to Lori and her entire team for their dedication to making this event a success year after year.
EXCELLENCE IN ATHLETICS
The Excellence in Athletics Award is presented to an individual, team, or coach who has shown outstanding dedication to their sport and to our community. This award honors those who display excellence in athletic endeavors, good sportsmanship, and a commitment to their training programs.
Whether they compete at an amateur or professional level, or volunteer throughout the community, these athletes bring pride to Drayton Valley with their accomplishments. Tonight, we recognize their dedication, talent, and the positive influence they have on our town.”
Steven Dodds
This coach truly exemplifies what every player hopes for in a mentor. Not only has he brought the sport of rugby back to Drayton Valley but he has tirelessly volunteered his time coaching the U13 and U15 girls’ teams, traveling out of town weekly for games. He is committed to enhancing the players’ skills by bringing in outside resources and training, and is actively working to ensure the program continues by developing more coaches. Beyond rugby, he generously gives his time to referee high school games and is involved in various community events and committees. His players admire him as a mentor long after they’ve left the team, a testament to his encouraging and genuine spirit.
Tysin Mulligan
Tysin Mulligan has excelled in every sport he has taken on. At just 19, Tysin’s talent on the ice has earned him numerous accolades, starting with his time playing in Drayton Valley up to U15 before moving to Leduc to compete at the AAA level. He captained his U18 AAA team, receiving the AEHL Scholarship, Top Scorer, and MVP awards. Tysin’s Junior A career has taken him from the KIJHL, where he led his team in goals and assists, to the Campbellton Tigers in the MHL. Beyond his athletic achievements, Tysin maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school, proving his dedication both on and off the ice.
Kevin Roy
Kevin Roy’s dedication to running and weightlifting spans more than half his life. Introduced to Ultra Trail Running by his wife, Kevin has become a regular competitor in the Sinister 7 Ultra and other long-distance races. In 2024, he took on the incredible challenge of completing a 100-mile race, a feat that demanded months of preparation, countless early mornings, and tireless hours in the gym. Kevin’s success in this race is not only a testament to his physical and mental strength but also the unwavering support of his wife, who stood by him every step of the way.
HEALTHCARE & EMERGENCY SERVICES
Our next award is the Healthcare & Emergency Services Award, which honors individuals who work in healthcare or emergency services. These are the people who display outstanding compassion and commitment in their fields, focusing on efforts to improve the well-being of people in our community.
Whether it’s a nurse, doctor, pharmacist, ambulance worker, RCMP officer, or firefighter, these individuals make a difference every day by improving our quality of life through their selfless, courageous, and compassionate actions. Tonight, we recognize and celebrate their contributions to the safety, health, and well-being of Drayton Valley.”
Dr. Ros Beacom & Dr. Mike Peyton
Dr. Ros Beacom and Dr. Mike Peyton are pillars of Drayton Valley’s healthcare community, having dedicated over 40 years of service to the town. Mike served as Head of Medical Staff for 17 years, and both he and Ros were integral in delivering approximately 3,000 babies. Beyond their clinical roles, they were instrumental in recruiting new doctors and ensuring high-quality care for the community. Mike volunteered as Treasurer on the golf board, and Ros coached soccer, both giving back to the community they embraced as home. Their genuine care, professionalism, and personal connection with patients have left an enduring impact on Drayton Valley.
Sheila Blackwood
Sheila Blackwood has been a cornerstone of Drayton Valley EMS since 2009. As an advanced care paramedic and Supervisor, Sheila is known for her compassionate patient care, leadership, and mentorship. Her dedication goes beyond her clinical role, forging strong partnerships with the Drayton Valley Fire Department to enhance emergency response. Sheila’s positive attitude and tireless work ethic have inspired her colleagues and left a lasting impact on the community. Her commitment to the well-being of her patients and fellow EMS professionals makes her more than deserving of recognition.
Brazeau Search & Rescue
Brazeau Search & Rescue has played a crucial role in Drayton Valley and the surrounding areas, providing lifesaving efforts for those lost or in need of rescue. Despite facing challenges like a lack of resources and volunteers, the team’s dedication and resilience have ensured the continued success of the organization. Their commitment to serving the community, often under difficult circumstances, is commendable, and their perseverance has made a significant impact in times of need.
Andrea Fald
Andrea Fald has been a Registered Nurse at Drayton Valley Hospital for over 35 years, providing compassionate and expert care to countless patients. Known for her ability to maintain calm in emergencies, Andrea played a vital role during the hospital’s evacuation, ensuring patient safety. She is a trusted advocate for her patients, consistently going above and beyond, even when working in challenging conditions. Andrea’s decades of dedication to the health and well-being of Drayton Valley’s citizens, as well as her mentorship and leadership, have made her an indispensable figure in the community.
Primary Care Network (PCN)
The Primary Care Network (PCN) has been instrumental in improving the health of Drayton Valley and surrounding areas by providing comprehensive, team-based care. This diverse medical team includes nurses, dieticians, social workers, mental health counselors, and a nurse practitioner, all working together to fill gaps in the local healthcare system. Their holistic approach ensures that patients receive timely, accessible, and high-quality care, reducing the need for emergency room visits. Through their community health initiatives and patient education, the PCN is fostering a healthier, more resilient community.
NEW COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION
The New Community Organization Award is given to an organization that has been created within the last 18 months and is already making a significant impact in Drayton Valley. This award recognizes groups that are volunteering or contributing to improve the quality of life in our town and are providing new and innovative opportunities for our community to engage.
These organizations are the lifeblood of our community, bringing fresh ideas and energy to Drayton Valley. We celebrate their success and look forward to the continued positive impact they will have on our town.”
Curtis Buchan
Curtis Buchan has played a key role in introducing and developing the sport of disc golf in Drayton Valley. He was instrumental in creating the Ivan To course and another at the Pembina Nordic Centre, bringing a fun and engaging activity to the community. Curtis also offers opportunities for learning and improvement through teaching clinics and local tournaments, which have helped showcase the area. His dedication to promoting active lifestyles through disc golf has had a positive impact on the community.
Ray Labossiere
Ray Labossiere is the co-owner of the non-profit Drayton Valley Mighty Learners Centre, which provides quality childcare for 45 families, enabling parents to participate in the workforce. Beyond her professional role, Ray has shown deep commitment to the community through her volunteer work, particularly with the Rotary Club of Drayton Valley. She is highly regarded for her kindness and generosity, making her a cherished and outstanding citizen of Drayton Valley.
Drayton Valley Mighty Learners Centre (DVMLC)
The Drayton Valley Mighty Learners Centre (DVMLC) has made a significant impact by providing much-needed affordable childcare in the community. Opening in May 2023, DVMLC created 44 full-time childcare spaces and meaningful employment opportunities. The center’s commitment to building respectful relationships with families and their involvement in community events, such as the Santa’s Workshop and Christmas Parade, demonstrate their dedication to positive engagement. DVMLC addresses the critical childcare shortage in Drayton Valley while offering flexible hours for working parents, making them a deserving nominee for this award.
Shavonne Wickens
Shavonne Wickens, owner of Harv’s Candy Store, has created a fun and nostalgic experience in Drayton Valley with her unique shop. Her cheerful greetings and positive atmosphere make every visit a delightful experience. Harv’s Candy Store stands out as a joyful, welcoming space that brings smiles to customers of all ages, thanks to Shavonne’s warm presence and dedication.
OIL & GAS
The Oil and Gas Award is presented to a local business or corporation in the oil and gas sector that has made significant contributions to our community. This award is special because it reflects the impact a company has, not just within the industry but in the lives of its employees and the broader community.

These businesses are involved in community functions and events, they make a difference in the workplace, and they support their employees in meaningful ways. Mark Baker
Mark Baker, owner of Western Solutions 2000 Ltd., has been a vital part of the Drayton Valley oil and gas industry since 2000. Known for his dedication to both his employees and the community, Mark goes above and beyond to support his team and contribute to local causes. His company has worked with many major oil and gas businesses in the area, and he is a regular donor to charitable events and silent auctions in Drayton Valley. Mark’s generosity and commitment to giving back make him a valued member of the community.
Garry Nelson
Garry Nelson has been a pillar of Drayton Valley’s business community since 1987, starting Nelson Brothers with just one truck and growing it into a thriving operation that has other small businesses running trucks under Nelson Brothers. This is a business that he has not sold and has continued to grow so that these small businesses can keep their tires rolling. He has done this and kept this business going because he enjoys seeing others do well. He is always giving back to our community from many donations and hand outs to giving back to our beautiful community. Garry’s dedication extends beyond business—he frequently gives back to the community, from improving local fairground parking to spending weekends with his grandkids cleaning ditches. His unwavering commitment to helping others succeed and enhancing the community showcases his generous and selfless nature.
Brian Winder
Brian Winder founded Brandette Well Servicing Ltd. nearly 45 years ago with a vision of creating not just a business, but a lasting legacy in the oil and gas service industry. His leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence have made the company a cornerstone of the community. Well known for his generous heart, he has cultivated a workplace where employees feel valued and motivated, making Brandette a truly wonderful place to work. Beyond the business, he has consistently given back to the community, both locally and globally, earning a reputation as an outstanding pillar of support and generosity. There was never a set budget for donations if he deemed the cause worthy – donations from Brandette would often surpass $100,000 per year (no small number back then). The recipients would include all minor sports groups, all service clubs (i.e. – The Rotary Club, the Kin Club, Pembina Oilmen’s Club, etc.), the DV Community Foundation, STARS and any special projects such as the proposed Field House ($50,000), Eleanor Pick Up Arts Centre ($25,000), Humans Helping Humans ($50,000) and many, many more. Ever generous with his time, Brian was a long-standing member of the Pembina Oilmen’s Association, serving as President for several years. In the business community, he was instrumental in assisting a number of community members in starting their own local businesses. His contributions have left an indelible mark on both the industry and the community he cherishes.
Brian’s mantra was “People work very hard in our community to help improve our quality of life – my part is providing them with the funding to do their good works”.
TEACHERS/EDUCATORS
The Teachers/Educators Award recognizes those who are shaping the future of our community by making a difference in the lives of their peers and our youth. This award honors teachers and educators who show compassion and a love for teaching, who utilize their talents and creativity to help our youth achieve their goals through extracurricular activities, and who serve as positive role models.
Educators play a crucial role in building a brighter future for Drayton Valley, and tonight, we celebrate their dedication to nurturing the minds and hearts of our young people.”
Sarah Houle
Sarah Houle is a dedicated math tutor specializing in high school mathematics, with 31 students from January to June 2024. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, she plans to continue her education by obtaining a teaching degree. Sarah is known for her passion and creativity in helping students understand math, often demonstrating multiple methods to solve problems, allowing students to find what works best for them. With her heart of gold and a deep commitment to helping students succeed, Sarah has become a trusted resource for students and teachers alike in Drayton Valley.
Komalpreet Kaur
Ms. K, as she is affectionately known, has been a beloved educator at Mighty Learners since its inception. Her positive energy, welcoming smile, and ability to connect with children make her a favorite among students, staff, and families. Ms. K’s inclusive approach ensures that every child feels valued, regardless of background or appearance. As a young educator, she has already shown what it means to be a positive influence and a role model, fostering a nurturing and equitable learning environment for all.
Dawn McConnell
Dawn McConnell has been a dedicated teacher with STAR Catholic for over 30 years, leaving an indelible mark on generations of students in Drayton Valley. Known for her passion and commitment to education, Dawn is admired by students, parents, and colleagues alike. She has actively contributed to school and community initiatives, coached sports, and participated in inclusive education efforts, earning recognition for her work. As she enters retirement, Dawn reflects on a fulfilling career, grateful for the lifelong relationships she has built and the opportunity to inspire young minds to reach for their dreams.
Roberta Miller
Roberta Miller has been a guiding force at Little Angels Preschool for over 20 years, shaping the lives of hundreds of young students. Known for her exceptional ability to make each child feel seen, valued, and loved, Roberta creates a safe and nurturing environment that helps children thrive. Her individualized approach to education ensures that each student builds a strong foundation for future learning. Roberta’s influence is evident in the fond memories her students and their families carry, making her an indispensable part of the Drayton Valley educational community.
Mighty Learners
Mighty Learners has been a transformative presence in Drayton Valley, offering high-quality, play-based child care with extended hours and weekend availability. The center’s staff is known for their genuine care and dedication to each child, creating lesson plans tailored to the interests of the students. They embrace diversity by introducing children to different cultures through holidays, activities, and meals. Mighty Learners is not only a trusted daycare but also an active participant in community events, making a significant impact on the lives of children and families in Drayton Valley.
Todd Muir
Todd Muir has been a driving force behind the growth of rugby in Drayton Valley since 2010. His passion for the sport has led to the development of youth, adult, high school, and junior high school rugby programs in the community. Todd’s commitment to building the sport and investing in the youth of Drayton Valley has made him an influential figure, inspiring both athletes and community members alike.
Emily Valiquette
Before I get into Emily’s bio, I want to note that we received 20 nominations for her from her students and fellow teachers!
So it should come as no surprise that Emily Valiquette is a highly respected teacher at Holy Trinity Academy, known for her ability to connect with and inspire her students. With a focus on subjects like biology, chemistry, and math, she ensures her students are well-prepared for their academic futures through engaging lessons and after-school support. Emily’s teaching style adapts to the needs of each student, providing individualized resources and a positive, motivating classroom environment. Her dedication, passion, and approachable demeanor make her a favorite among students, many of whom credit her for their academic success and personal growth.
YOUTH EMPOWERMENT
The Youth Empowerment Award shines a spotlight on the remarkable young individuals in our community who are making a difference. This award is for those under 18 who volunteer throughout the community, utilize their talents and creativity to tackle pressing challenges, and make a positive impact on the lives of their peers.

Cameron Kelly
Cameron Kelly, has been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for twelve years and now shares her passion by coaching young children, teaching not only the fundamentals of the sport but also important life skills like self-discipline, leadership, and teamwork. As a student at Frank Maddock High School, Cameron is deeply involved in the Student Council, helping to organize school events, orientations, and spirit days. She also takes time to volunteer in the community, including spending afternoons with seniors at the CETC Centre and contributing to the Town of Drayton Valley’s Canada Day celebrations for the past four years. Cameron’s dedication to empowering both his peers and younger generations through leadership and volunteerism is truly inspiring!

BUSINESS AWARDS
2 Awards will be presented in the business category:
BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Nominate a local business or corporation that:
- Has experienced substantial growth in business, or
- Excels in customer service, or
- Demonstrates innovation in its core business model, or
- Has incorporated environmentally responsible practices into their core business model.
OIL & GAS AWARD
Employee(s) have nominated their employer in this category.
Nominee a local business or corporation that:
- Has made significant contributions in the community
- Involved in community functions/events
- Make a difference in the workplace and support their employees
COMMUNITY SPIRIT AWARD
Nominate an individual, organization, or not for profit group that:
- Makes a significant or ongoing voluntary contribution to the community, or
- Displays outstanding contribution toward community enrichment, or;
- Contributes remarkable humanitarian service that has made a difference to the well-being of others, or
- Improves the lives of those in need through selfless, courageous, creative, and compassionate acts.
HEALTHCARE & EMERGENCY SERVICES AWARD
Nominate an individual that:
- Is engaged in either the Healthcare or Emergency Services fields, (Nurse, Doctor, Pharmacist, Ambulance, RCMP, Fire Services)
- Displays outstanding compassion and commitment in their field, or
- Focuses on efforts to improve the well-being of people in our community, or
- Makes a difference in our community by contributing to improving quality of life
- Improves the lives of those in need through selfless, courageous, and compassionate acts or
- Has a positive impact, overcomes challenges
TEACHERS/EDUCATORS AWARD
Nominate a Teacher or Educator that:
- Makes a difference in the lives of their peers or youth, or
- Shows compassion and a love for teaching, or
- Utilizes their talents and creativity to help the youth in our community achieve goals through extracurricular activities , or
- Is a positive role model in our community
YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AWARD
(Under 18)
Nominate a Youth that:
- Makes a difference in the lives of their peers or youth, or
- Volunteers throughout the community, or
- Utilizes their talents and creativity to tackle some of our community’s most pressing challenges, or
NEW COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION AWARD
Nominate a new community organization that:
- Has been created within the last 18 months, and
- Makes a difference in our community by volunteering or contributing to improve the quality of life, or
- Provides new and innovative opportunities for the community to engage.
EXCELLENCE IN ATHLETICS
Nominate a local individual, team, or coach that:
- Displays excellence in one or more athletic endeavours, or
- Shows ability and dedication to a training program combined with good sportsmanship, or
- Competes at an amateur or professional level, or
- Credits the Town because of athletic accomplishment, or
- Volunteers throughout the community.
ARTS & MUSIC AWARD
Nominate a local artist or musician who:
- Is engaged in the art and music industry, or
- Experienced achievements in the industry, or
- Exhibits extraordinary creativity and talent, or
- Has a positive impact and embraces innovation and creativity or
- Utilizes their talents and love for music to teach others in the community
