As we approach the one year anniversary of the Buck Creek wildfire, feelings of worry and stress are normal.

If you or someone you know is experiencing feelings of anxiety related to the wildfire, or are looking for information on wildfire preparedness, we encourage you to attend one of our FREE upcoming information session:

April 29, 2024 at the Mackenzie Conference Centre
🔘 2:00 – 4:00 P.M.
🔘 6:30 - 8:30 P.M.

Sessions include a presentation from Alberta Health Services with an opportunity for individual conversations following the presentation. Emergency Preparedness information will be set up for the entirety of the open house with personnel from the Fire Department on hand to speak to.

Personnel from Drayton Valley Brazeau County Fire Department and the Town of Drayton Valley will be on hand to speak to you and answer any questions you may have on a variety of topics including:
✓ Incident Command System (ICS) structure, how it works and what training Town staff have and are receiving
✓ Informational videos from the Fire Department
✓ How the Town is working with industry leaders
✓ FireSmart techniques residents can apply to their own properties

Alberta Health Services, Family & Community Support Services, Aim for Success will be on hand to provide:
✓ Hands-on tools to cope and manage anxiety, fear and panic
✓ Tools for parents to help their children cope with anxiety
✓ Stress management tools
✓ Assistance in connecting with additional resources

It would be so exciting to meet a
gardener, baker, community helper, singer, artist, storyteller, weaver, wood worker, farmer and all the people who are part of the Drayton Valley puzzle!
