Waste Management and Recycling

The Town of Drayton Valley is very serious about recycling. We are working hard to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills. Through innovative recycling programs and good organics management, Drayton Valley aims to be a leader in protecting the natural beauty of our community.

A successful recycling program is a team effort. Residents are encouraged to make the decision to reduce, reuse and recycle before garbage is taken out. The Town will then collect the recyclables and deliver them to a processor who can turn them into high-quality raw materials. Click here to see our garbage and recycling schedule.

The Aspen Waste Management Facility Site (landfill) is situated northwest of the town of Drayton Valley. The Aspen Waste Management Facility is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and Easter Sunday. The hours of operation are below.

The Aspen Waste Management Facility has constructed new cells to meet the current environmental regulations. These costs will be phased in with increased landfill disposal rates. The Aspen Waste Management Facility Authority has extended the life of the existing cells by diverting the waste stream through recycling and composting. Tipping fees are structured to encourage residents and businesses to divert more waste into recycling and composting.
