Engineering and Public Works The walking paths in Drayton Valley’s parks are designed and maintained by the town. The overall responsibility of Public Works includes all infrastructure development, such as roads, sidewalks, walkways, water, sewer, buildings and parks.
The Town of Drayton Valley Public Works Department also ensures that roadways and alleys are well-maintained and accessible to all residents throughout the year. There is a policy that sets out the criteria for snow clearing and collection. Naturally, emergency routes, main collectors and school routes take precedence over other areas. Please have patience during periods of heavy snowfall or other extreme weather conditions, as maintenance crews will clear your area as quickly as possible. Lane blading (grading of lanes and back alleys) and street sweeping take place in spring and fall. The Public Works Department is also responsible for maintaining the town’s recreational facilities, sewer system, sidewalks and water systems. Parks and open spaces afford the community an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors at a leisurely pace or while pursuing an active lifestyle. The town currently has an extensive network of paved walking paths that cross through the town’s parks, quiet residential areas and open spaces. The walking path is expanding as development progresses. It is an integral part of the town’s infrastructure development.
