Road Construction Projects
Mackenzie Avenue (May and July 2017)
A reminder to motorist who are traveling on Mackenzie Avenue that there some manhole are slightly recessed. Watch out for the traffic cones in the area marking the affected areas to avoid damage to your vehicle.
There will be work on Mackenzie Avenue from the cul-de-sac on 48a Street to 55th Avenue in May and July of 2017. The project will take place in two parts with the first part of the project commencing in early May with completion expected in July (weather dependent). At this time, traffic will be reduced to one lane.
Please be aware that there are crews and equipment in the area. Please be mindful of the crews and equipment in the area, and watch for flag persons in the construction zone. Below is a map of Mackenzie Avenue and the areas that are going to be under construction.
Update August 21, 2017
The next phase of work on Mackenzie Avenue will begin shortly. The anticipated schedule is as follows (Weather Permitting):
August 22 to 23, 2017
Painting of curbs and lines on the road is anticipated this weekend weather permitting. Watch for crews and equipment in the area. There will be up to an 5 person crew in the area and 2 flag persons.
Order on Vehicle Weights
By the order of the Town of Drayton Valley Engineer pursuant to bylaw no. 2000-09, being the Drayton Valley Traffic Bylaw it is hereby ordered that:
OIL BASED ROADS in the Town will be:
Township road 490 from 50th Street to Helena Drive at 50%;
GRAVEL ROADS in the Town will be at 100% gross vehicle axle weights, with the exception of:
A. RR75 from 58th Ave to the north Town limit (N boundary of SE19/SW20 – 49-7-5) at 50%
PAVED ROADS in the Town will be 100%gross vehicle axle weights.
This order comes is effective 8:00 am April 7, 2017.
