Women in Government Program Posted on May. 16 2012

Although women make up more than half the population they are less than a quarter of the total of number of municipal politicians. The Women in Government (W.I.G.) program will help to change that by getting young women (age 16-26) more involved in municipal politics. The program was inspired by FCM’s new Protégé Program which aims to engage young Canadian women interested in becoming leaders and decision-makers in municipal government.

Request for Proposals: Handi-Bus Service Posted on May. 15 2012

The Town of Drayton Valley and Brazeau County are seeking proposals for the delivery of a handi-bus service for our residents. The handi-bus service will provide door-to-door service for eligible individuals.

Bidders are invited to provide alternative options or solutions to address the need for service. They are also invited to submit a seperate proposal to provide service between Drayton Valley and Brazeau County and Edmonton or other major centres.

Triathlon Results Posted on May. 14 2012

Drayton Valley's first triathlon was a huge hit with racers from across Alberta and Saskatchewan turning out to enjoy a weekend of bright sunshine. We would like to thank all of the sponsors and volunteers who pulled together to make this event such a success!!!

Wildfire update Posted on May. 13 2012

To correct misinformation in the Edmonton media we would like to clarify that Drayton Valley is not currently under any kind of threat from the wildfire burning near Lodgepole. We continue to monitor the situation and are receiving regular updates from our neighbours in Brazeau County. As a community we are hoping for a positive outcome for the people of Lodgepole.

Employment Standards: What you should know Posted on May. 7 2012

Are you interested in learning more about finding and keeping good employees? Together with Brazeau County we have established an Employee Attraction and Retention Network. This is a pilot program in co-operation with Human Services Alberta. The next breakfast meeting is set for 7:30 a.m. Tuesday May 15 at the MacKenzie Conference Centre.

This is a public notice advising residents that the Council of the Town of Drayton Valley has received applications to create an Area Structure Plan and to rezone the lands legally described as NE18-49-7-W5M for the future development of commercial/industrial lands.

Fire Advisory Issued Posted on Apr. 23 2012

A Fire Advisory has been issued for the Drayton Valley area. A Fire Advisory occurs when the fire hazard in the area is moderate to high. Wildfires can start from the most accidental causes and spread moderately through dry brush and grasses. Fire crews should be able to contain a wildfire with minimal support. Wildfires not suppressed immediately can still become very serious fires. OUTDOOR BURNING IS PERMITTED ONLY WITH A FIRE PERMIT OR IN AN APPROVED FIRE PIT OR BURNING APPLIANCE.

Challenge yourself or your friends! Why not take part in the first annual Drayton Valley Triathlon? The Triathlon is a race involving swimming, biking and running. It’s a great way to get fit!
Set for the weekend of May 12-13, our Triathlon is one of the first sanctioned races in the province for 2012. We are happy to be promoting this event and proud to encourage fitness and recreation within our community.
