Doing Business Here

The Business sector is constantly expanding to meet the growing needs of the community in-and-around Drayton Valley. It has been said that the activity would match—possibly even exceed—the growth of an area with ten times the population. Drayton Valley is currently home to 6,893 people, with approximately 7,000 people in Brazeau County.

This town has it all—diverse stores and restaurants, excellent schools and recreation facilities and a strong infrastructure. The back country has some amazing wilderness experiences to offer, including spots for hunting, camping and fishing.

The Town’s Planning and Development Department is responsible for all aspects of land planning to ensure development occurs in an organized and rational manner. They are the ones to contact for the processing of development permits, building permits, business licenses, compliance certificates, applications for subdivision and rezoning and any other planning-related documents.

To operate in Drayton Valley, all businesses will require the following:

Business License Application (2008)
Development Permit (2008)

If there will be structural changes to the building or business location, a business also needs to complete a Building Permit.

Building Permit (2008)

Homebased buinesses and Peddlers

Home Occupation Form (2008)
Peddlers Business Licence Form (2008)

Drayton Valley has always been technologically inclined. The Town of Drayton Valley was the first rural town with local dial-up access to the Internet. In the summer of 2003, Drayton Valley became one of the first rural towns connected to the Supernet fibre service constructed by the Alberta Government. The ensuing wireless partnership has made high-speed service readily available to residents and businesses.
